Role Purpose
The Field Service Engineer is responsible for providing technical expertise, on-site services, and engineering support to FLSmidths customers across Brazil. This role ensures the proper installation, maintenance, inspection, and troubleshooting of FLSmidth equipment, driving customer satisfaction and long-term equipment performance.
You will act as a key technical liaison between customers and our engineering, product, and service teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform installation supervision, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, and inspections of FLSmidth equipment at customer sites.
- Provide hands-on technical support for mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Ensure work is carried out safely and in compliance with FLSmidth and customer safety standards.
- Support root cause analysis (RCA) and provide recommendations to optimize performance.
- Deliver clear and professional service reports, documentation, and feedback to internal teams.
- Train customer personnel on equipment operation, preventive maintenance, and best practices.
- Collaborate with the commercial and engineering teams to identify opportunities for service improvement and aftermarket solutions.
- Actively represent FLSmidth in customer interactions, building trust and long-term relationships.
- Maintain tools and equipment in proper working condition and adhere to field safety protocols.
- Travel to various mine sites within Brazil and occasionally to other countries in South America.
Technical Skills And Knowledge
- Solid knowledge of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems – crushers, mills, feeders, conveyors.
- Familiarity with hydraulic systems, instrumentation, and plant equipment alignment.
- Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, manuals, and technical documentation.
- Hands-on experience with diagnostic tools and service software (preferred).
- Knowledge of maintenance best practices and troubleshooting methodologies.
Qualifications And Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Industrial, Mechatronic Engineering or similar.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in field service, preferably in mining, heavy equipment, or industrial services.
- Experience working in mine sites or heavy industrial environments.
- Strong communication and customer service orientation.
- Proficiency in Portuguese (required) and intermediate English (reading/writing/speaking).
- Availability to travel frequently (up to 70%) within Brazil and occasionally internationally.
- Valid driver’s license.
